The Role
Underwriting Analyst (Claims)
Overview
Reporting to the Underwriting Management Analyst within the Management Underwriting department, you will be responsible for analysing the claims performance of Bell & Clements, external service providers and clients, this includes compiling reports, monitoring trends/results and providing analysis that enhances the claims area of the company.
From an analytical perspective work closely with B&C IT Development team on data standardisation/enhancement and catastrophe imagery projects
Responsibilities
- To have primary responsibility for initial B&C PCS catastrophe event outlier estimation process, including producing & circulating aggregate exposure reports, analysis of catastrophe information and production of management information reports.
- Assist with regular revision of PCS catastrophe UEM reports.
- Liaise with all stakeholders on PCS catastrophe reporting / data needs.
- Assess and provide input on improvements/enhancements to data standards.
- To work with IT development department, other units of MRSI &/or third parties on data and analytics projects, as required.
- Analyse claims performance of B&C, external providers and clients, this to include review and assessment of KPI/SLAs and current/historic claims trends.
- To liaise with clients to enhance the performance of their contracts.
- Design and develop new specific claims reports to run from the company's data warehouse and reporting services software.
Key Skills and Experience
- Experience in a claims / underwriting support role preferred.
- Experience in delegated authority business preferred.
- Exposure to US property business preferred.
Analytical skills / experience
- Previous experience in an analytical role.
- Some specific claims / claims analysis experience would also be advantageous.
- An understanding of insurance statistics.
- Need to have an analytical mindset and be able to work innovatively.
Desirable IT skills
- SQL would be very useful in order to query databases.
- Tableau would be useful.
- Excel would be essential.

- Annual salary will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
