Role - Quality Assurance Analyst

An exciting opportunity for Quality Assurance Analyst with at least 6 years’ experience to join an accredited Lloyd’s insurance broker specializing in broking and underwriting services for North American wholesale brokers and managing general agents.

Bell and Clements is wholly owned by the Munich Re Group (Munich Re) and provides our customers with access to Lloyd’s, London, and International markets. Our success is built on long-term relationships, reliability, and quality of service. We specialize in business sectors where we can develop a prominent position through commitment, experience, and expertise.

This role is new to Bell and Clements IT and will be based in the Development Operations Team providing cross departmental test management, albeit predominantly to our Software Engineering Team.

Purpose of the Position

Bell and Clements IT has built solutions that are relied upon by both internal and external customers and these solutions are pivotal to the Company’s success.

Up until now Developers have retained responsibility for the testing of the applications they build, but the IT estate has grown and the demand for IT services has increased, creating an imperative to maximise the Software engineer’s time on development. The growing burden on Software engineers also necessitates a greater need for independent Quality Assurance.

As the QA tester, you will be responsible for creating, reviewing and implementing systematic test plans to prove the functionality, integration and successful deployment of our products. You will collaborate with Software Engineers, Data Analysts and the Project Manager to determine project test scope and requirements. You will be responsible for ensuring that new builds and fixes are fully tested prior to oversight of the User Acceptance Testing with the business.

This is an ideal opportunity for a proven QA Analyst who not only wants to retain the hands-on responsibility of testing, but also to introduce effective test disciplines into an IT organisation from scratch.

Success in this role will be demonstrated by providing quality work output, screening for errors, and troubleshooting for any issues with software code in order to improve the release success.

It is worth noting that Bell and Clements has commenced plans for transition of its services from ‘on premise’ to Cloud based technologies. There will therefore soon be a chance for the successful QA Analyst to have exposure to this challenging transition. There is the additional possibility for the Analyst to develop their own skills in test automation with a view to introducing automated testing in the longer-term future.

  • Work with the Infrastructure team to establish appropriate steps and ownership of stress testing, performance testing and scalability testing
  • To liaise with the business in the preparation and execution of User Acceptance testing.
  • To work on multiple projects at one time
  • To assess the suitability of test environments and make recommendations accordingly.
  • Longer term to evolve this test capability to conform to Agile methodologies, and to ensure that the approaches apply equally with Cloud based technologies.
