The Role : Project Manager – 12 months FTC 

Overview

The IT department within B&C underpins the services that support both internal and external clients and has proven pivotal to the success of the organisation.  The growth of the IT estate and progressive plans for the future necessitates the addition of a third Project Manager to join our team in London, on a fixed term basis of 12 months, with the potential for extension. 

B&C has embarked upon its biggest ever IT project to transition off of their on-premise IT estate to Cloud based technologies by moving to Munich Re’s One Cloud network, ultimately enabling the retirement of its on-premise infrastructure.  From a governance and management perspective, the B&C Integration Project has been structured with 9 workstream pillars covering: Applications, Security, Networks, Workplace, Support, Finance, People, Communication & Procurement. Each Workstream has a Workstream Lead and a PM Lead that feed up inputs to the Programme Manager.
The role will involve supporting B&C’s project management for the project and supporting a number of defined workstreams within the project. This project is targeted at transitioning B&C to Munich Re’s network, moving all its applications and services to Munich Re’s One Cloud in Azure, and ultimately enabling the retirement of its on-premise infrastructure. The ambition is to complete the transition in a 12-18 month period.
The job holder will be responsible for all project management responsibilities within their remit,  including co-ordination and completion of their assigned project work (“Work”) on time, within budget and within scope. The role will require overseeing all aspects of the Work, including setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, monitoring, and reporting to all stakeholders. The role will also involve working directly with all relevant stakeholders within B&C and Munich Re, external clients and third parties.


Responsibilities 

•    Reporting to B&C’s Senior Project Manager, matrixing closely with other members of the Project Team, and able to liaise closely with the Munich Re Project Manager(s) assigned to the B&C Integration initiative.
•    Initiate and manage the assigned project workstream’s according to the Munich Re Essentials governance framework, taking accountability for the production of all pre-requisite artefacts.
•    Ensure that the Work is managed to support the business objectives.
•    Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for effective execution of the Work.
•    Define the scope and objectives of the Work with all relevant stakeholders and control any changes to scope through project change management.
•    Make sure that the Work is delivered on time, within scope and within budget.
•    Identify priorities within assigned Work brief and manage stakeholder expectations.
•    Plan, Schedule, Monitor, and report activities related to the Work, supported by regular communication on progress and issues to all key stakeholders.
•    Collaborate with the business, B&C stakeholders, Munich Re IT management and technicians to identify and manage risks and issues.
•    The control and management of third parties assigned to the delivery of the Work, ensuring adherence to contract(s), budget(s), scope and milestones.

Key Skills and Experience 

•    Project Management Qualifications, Agile, Prince2
•    Extensive experience in IT and Business project management
•    Insurance knowledge preferable (but not essential)
•    Proven experience project managing all IT elements of a significant IT transformation which could include: merge and migration of application activity &/or a large internal network transition with impacts on a network, workplace (hardware provisioning), workplace (end user computing): corporate telephony (mobiles and landlines), smart meeting rooms, application hosting and support and BCP arrangements.
•    Ability to lead and direct the work under a unified project lens without compromising business outcomes and priority constraints.
•    Pro-active and willing to  participate in the completion of key tasks  as well as managing the plan.
•    Excellent communication skills with strong experience in stakeholder management,
•    Strong organisation skills including attention to detail and ability to multi- task. 
•    Proven ability to create meaningful reports and summarise project health status for C-level audiences.
•    Track record of project financial budget management.
•    Ability to drive a mixture of functional and geographic workstreams and co-ordinate step change delivery to the business in a unified way.
•    Consultative and collaborative working style 
•    Self-motivated and able to take the initiative to problem solve
•    Good standard of literacy, accuracy and attention to detail.
•    Good interpersonal and communication skills.
•    There is a possibility that some international travel may be required of the job holder but this is not expected to be significant.

Desirables

•    Strong experience of:
o    Supporting a Microsoft 365 tenant-to-tenant migration
o    Overseeing the implementation all IT & change obligations associated with M&A activity &/or a large internal network transition
o    Supporting the delivery of applications migrating from on-premise to Cloud 
•    Experience of Azure Cloud technologies and system
•    University educated or relevant work experience

•    Annual salary will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
